Lauren and Tom met in high school, they’ve been friends since 9th grade and finally fell in love right before their year 12 graduation.
Their rustic diy wedding at Loxley on Bellbird hill was packed with personalised touches, like beer growlers for vases and lace and hessian which reflected Tom’s love of beer (he’s a brewer) and Lauren’s love of everything rustic, all helping create a memorable wedding filled with love and laughter.
Lauren talks of all the details for the special day “We basically DIY everything! From the hessian table runners, cake topper, wooden branches (hand painted) centrepieces to the beer bottles and jars that we used for our flower arrangements. Instead of fresh flowers we opted for dried which had to be trimmed and placed by hand into every little jar and bottle and we also used a vintage suitcase for our wishing well. Tom’s sister used the dried flowers to make our bouquets and boutonnieres (which were amazing and something we can all keep forever) and we also decorated and designed our own guest signing book from a recycled paper book and some paper doilies.”
And some words of advice from the bride and groom: “Put yourselves first, pick the venue, food, people and music you truly want. You want to surround yourselves with the things that make you smile, feel like a couple and remind you both of romantic times and cherished memories. Make a list and check it a thousand times, I made new lists almost every single week in the months leading up to our wedding because there were just so many little things that popped up, new ideas, traditions to keep in mind, people and vendors to book, fittings to attend, the list goes on.
This was an incredibly fun day to photograph, and I was so happy to be a part of it. Excited to have this featured on the Vintage Bride blog xx
